The Eastern Edge Modern Curriculum identifies and defines the concepts, content, and skills taught in EVERY classroom within our district. It is what our students need to KNOW and be able to DO and it outlines a variety of pathways to get there.

To Architect a Curriculum with Balance, we need to Re-imagining a 21st Century Curriculum. A 21st-century education will increasingly require teachers to architect instruction that intentionally:

builds a student’s core base of knowledge,
expands their skills within the discipline, and
leverages this combination to solve authentic problems across integrated academic disciplines.

The Eastern Edge Modern Curriculum will:

Provide support to teachers to meet the needs of all learners using a variety of pedagogies and learning experiences
Provide a framework to support personalized learning so students have flexibility with time, place, pace, and pathway of learning
Provide opportunities for learning outside the 4 walls of the classroom and personalize the pacing of learning
Prepare students for life beyond school through authentic and relevant learning experiences creating opportunities for students to develop 21st-century skills and dispositions
Make learning transparent for students and give them opportunities to take ownership of their learning
