Rippa Rugby Tournament

Girls only - Spirit Sisters Rippa Rugby Tournament

We have been offered a wonderful opportunity to take some Yr 3/4 and Yr 5/6 girls Rippa Rugby teams to Forsyth Barr Stadium on Monday the 11th of March for a girls only Rippa Rugby tournament.

The tournament begins at 9am so we will meet at school at approximately 8.10am so we can get into town and get ready for the first round. The final games will be finished at 2.30pm so we will be back at school ready for the 3pm bell.

At this stage we will plan to travel to the event in parent cars. If we do not have enough helpers we will need to take a bus, this will mean there will be a cost associated with the tournament (It is a free tournament at the moment).

I will also need some parent help on the day to help with the warm up and run the subs and help manage the teams in between games. It is a 'have a go'  FUN tournament, so you do not need to be a Rippa Rugby expert to help out. (Please note if I only get a couple of helpers, we will only be able to enter a couple of teams and that will mean some children will miss out!)

Uniform: I will issue your child with an East Taieri School sports singlet for the tournament and they will need to wear navy or black shorts. Gym shoes or touch/football boots with plastic moulds will be needed (no bare feet allowed).

If you would like your child to play in the tournament, please fill in the registration form below before Friday the 1st of March. I will confirm teams, transport and parent helpers etc next weekend.

We are excited for the Rippa Tournament next Wednesday the 31st of May. Please ensure your child has warm clothes to wear between games, a decent packed lunch and  sports gym shoes. The draw is set to be announced on Friday, once we see what time our first game is, we will have a  departure time. Please keep an eye on your emails for any further updates. Please see the team lists attached below.

Rippa Rugby 2022

We had a beautiful Autumn's day in at the Logan Park Artificial turfs For the Dunedin Metro Rippa Rugby Tournament. We had 4 teams competing this year and had some excellent games throughout the day. It was fabulous to see the improvement in all teams as the day went on. Our Yr 5/6 had a huge day playing 5 pool games and ET Purple playing an additional 2 games making the semi finals and finals. Our Yr 3/4 teams played 4 pool games, many of these players were new to the game of Rippa Rugby and showed great resilience and improvement throughout the day.

Our Purple team narrowly lost the final against St Mary's by one try and our Navy (yr 3/4) team narrowly lost their semi final against a well drilled Waikari team. Both teams have qualified for the Otago Rippa Rugby Tournament later in June. We can't wait to see their results against other teams from all over Otago.

A huge thankyou to all of our coaches, managers and helpers on the day. We really appreciate your support!

Rippa Rugby 2021

What a stunning day out at the Logan Park artificial turfs for the Dunedin Metro Rippa Rugby Tournament.  We had 6 mixed teams competing with some great close games throughout the day.  Many thanks to our parent coaches and helpers and also our supporters, I'm sure all the children enjoyed themselves.

Our East Taieri Jade and White teams got through to the quarter finals, but unfortunately had to play each other, so only one team went through to the semi finals.  Well done to all of our teams for a great on field and off field performance.

What an awesome day at the Otago Rippa Rugby Championships.  Well done to both our teams.  Yr 3/4 Green team got through to the semi-finals, narrowly loosing to a well drilled Shotover Team.  Our Yr 5/6 Jade team did a fantastic job too ending up with 3 very close games.  An amazing job from both teams.

Huge thanks to all of our parent coaches/managers and supporters on the day too.  You were all so supportive of our wee players and a huge help.  Many thanks.

See the gallery for photos of the day.  :-)

Wow - what super stars we have at East Taieri School.  CONGRATULATIONS to our Year 3/4 Green team who won the Tournament.  Also big well done to the East Taieri Jade team who finished in the Top 4 in the Year 5/6 grade.

Our other 3 teams also had an excellent day finishing off with many wins and having had lots of fun. Bring on the Otago Tournament!!  (More info on this later).

Huge thanks to our Parent Managers and Helpers for the day.  Without them we could not have had so many children taking part and enjoying themselves.  Thank you, thank you.  :-)

Have a look on our Gallery page for the photos from the day.  Confirmed results still to come.
