Welcome to the East Haven Family Resource Center. My name is Marissa Velazquez. We are committed to providing high-quality childcare that enhances the overall development of the child and supports the family unit. Our goal is to work in partnership with each family to focus on a child’s individual needs. Children are placed in a safe, enriched, child-centered environment that provides them the opportunity to explore, create, and grow under the supervision of a highly-qualified, nurturing staff. When children feel good about themselves, they are free to learn and grow. Our programming is designed to focus on each child and encourages exploration and positive self-esteem through appropriate choices. A variety of learning centers promote individual growth in all areas of development with an emphasis on the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive. Activities allow children to participate on their own level and enjoy a sense of accomplishment for what they have achieved. Children are encouraged to make choices throughout the day. Parental involvement is key to a child’s development. The East Haven Family Resource Center offers parents a variety of ways to participate in our program without putting additional stress on busy schedules. Communication is the key to any successful relationship; through daily contact with staff, newsletters, parenting programs, and family events, parents are made to feel a welcome and valued part of our program. It is our belief that we are providing a program that will reduce your stress and worry about the care and nurturing of your child. We are supporting you in your role as a parent, while understanding the other roles you must take on during the course of your day. We hope that we will work together for the best interests of the family.

I'm proud to call East Haven my hometown, having navigated the East Haven Public School System from start to finish. After graduating from East Haven High in 2018, I pursued my passion for community service and earned my B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut in 2022. I am passionate about child advocacy and am currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration to create real, lasting change. This marks my fifth year with East Haven Public Schools, and I’m excited to collaborate with you and provide valuable support for your children!
