We visited the British Museum in London to learn more about our History topic on the Anglo-Saxon's.
We have been learning about a village in England called Sutton Hoo, where an Anglo-Saxon ship was discovered.
In DT we made moving mechanisms using cam wheels. We based our design on the work we completed in English on the Secret Garden.
We designed our own 'Secret Garden' and chose two images from our design to move when we turned the handle.
We had to use a glue gun to help stick the cams to the axle.
In English we wrote our own poems based on the poetry book 'The Lost Words'. Our poems are about different UK woodland animals and plants and are written using similes and metaphors.
For each of our poems we painted the animal or plant our poem was about. We did this work in our Art lessons watercolours.
We tried to mix colours together to match the likeness in real life.
In Music we have been learning about the artist Mozart. We have been learning one of his symphony's, No.4, through body percussion.
We had to use our hands to tap the rhythm onto our laps. It was lots of fun!
We also listened to the symphony played using an instrument called the French horn. We then used this piece of music to create our own piece of music called 'call and response'. We had to make up our own conversation playing it on chime bars.
In Science we have been learning about different materials and their properties.
We have learnt about materials that are transparent, translucent and opaque. We have also tested materials to see if they are magnetic or not.
We organised our results into a table of magnetic and non-magnetic.
As a whole school we have been reading and writing about the classic story, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
