Meet with 10th graders at the beginning of the year to review their grades and set goals for the new school year.
Set up group of 10th grade students to assist in advisory
Students will continue with Overgrad activities, starting with Personality Assessment and can explore careers through interesting inventories.
Early March-start working on summer jobs and pre-college summer programs
All 10th graders will take the PSAT10 exam in April.
Counselors will meet with 10th graders in the spring to review academic standing and go over the course selection process for 11th
Spring- review their transcripts
Talk with the athletes about the National Clearinghouse standards.

Sophie Davis Medical Pipeline Program-The Health Professions Mentorship Program is for rising high school juniors thinking about a career in the health field. Careers like medicine, nursing, physician assistant, occupational therapy, public health, and research are possible with a college degree in basic or biomedical sciences, social sciences, or specialized health sciences.
Oyate Rise Leadership-Rise Leadership is Oyate Group’s leadership program for rising high school sophomores and juniors that runs throughout the school year. Rise Leadership inspires participants to become creators, critical thinkers, community leaders and social change makers.
Parsons Scholar Program-The Parsons Scholars Program (PSP) offers a space in which youth from New York City public schools explore art and design and its potential for self-discovery, social justice, and educational and career paths. Parsons Scholars receive a three-year pre-college scholarship that covers the cost of studio coursework in the Parsons Academy school year and Summer Intensive Studies programs, six transferable college credits, art supplies, transportation to all programming, meals, field trips, guest speaker visits, SAT prep, and college admissions and financial aid guidance.
Urban Journalism Program at NYU-The mission of the Urban Journalism Workshop is to identify and rectify the under-representation in newsrooms across the country. There is value in people from all backgrounds being attuned to this lack of representation and the disparities that may result from it. The support of diversity allies is critical to effecting meaningful change toward equitable representation in newsrooms. The Urban Journalism Workshop welcomes all high students who appreciate our mission, regardless of their identity or background. All high school students are eligible for consideration so long as they reside and attend high school in the New York City metropolitan area.
Sound Thinking NYC-Sound Thinking NYC is a free program especially designed to open doors for young women and men to explore careers in the music industry.
Einstein Enrichment Program-Einstein Enrichment Program (EEP) is part of a New York State–funded enrichment program called STEP (Science Technology Entry Program). Its mission is to serve minority and/or economically disadvantaged high school students who have been historically underrepresented in the medical and scientific professions. The program meets two afternoons a week for two 15-week sessions, and an optional 6-week session meeting on Monday through Thursday in the summer. The components of EEP include: fall professional seminars, teen action planning (service learning), academic enrichment including SAT and Regents prep and summer internship placements with stipends.
York College Aviation Program-The JFK Redevelopment Aviation and Aeronautics Academy at York College (JFKR AAA) aims to expose local youth to science, technology, engineering, and math concepts related to aviation, aeronautics, and airport management, as well as to introduce them to leadership and career opportunities in the industry.
