Throughout all four years we are here to help students navigate through high school and access information and resources. We work with students and families to ensure that academic progress towards graduation is made and help students deal with the social-emotional pressures often found during high school.
Meet with 11th graders at the beginning of the year to review their grades and set goals for the new school year.
Students will be using Overgrad to conduct their college and career search throughout the school year.
By the end of Junior year, students will have created a college list, have a working draft of their college essay, have applied for several scholarships, requested their teacher recommendations and more.
Students will have a chance to attend several career workshops throughout the school year and see what career opportunities are available post high school.
All 11th grade students will attend the College and Career Fair in the fall and will visit schools in the spring semester.
The first parent meeting for Junior parents will be in March. Announcement will go out when this is scheduled. Pease make sure to check your email and the guidance instagram @emnrsguidance
ALL 11th graders will take the PSAT in October!

Students are encouraged to visit with college representatives throughout the year when they come to the school.
Students will visit colleges outside of the local area. Potential Trip to HBCU’s in the spring. Stay tuned for details and information on all students trips here.

Monroe College Jump Start-Attention high school juniors and seniors! Monroe invites you to get a head start on your college career with our JumpStart program. Take a college-level course with us — on campus or virtual — and earn credits transferable to the school of your choice.
ACE Mentor Program- program for students interested in architecture, construction or engineering
B-side program at Carnegie Hall- introduces young people to careers in the music industry

Oyate Rise Leadership-Rise Leadership is Oyate Group’s leadership program for rising high school sophomores and juniors that runs throughout the school year. Rise Leadership inspires participants to become creators, critical thinkers, community leaders and social change makers.
Urban Journalism Program at NYU-The mission of the Urban Journalism Workshop is to identify and rectify the under-representation in newsrooms across the country. There is value in people from all backgrounds being attuned to this lack of representation and the disparities that may result from it. The support of diversity allies is critical to effecting meaningful change toward equitable representation in newsrooms. The Urban Journalism Workshop welcomes all high students who appreciate our mission, regardless of their identity or background. All high school students are eligible for consideration so long as they reside and attend high school in the New York City metropolitan area.
Sound Thinking NYC-Sound Thinking NYC is a free program especially designed to open doors for young women and men to explore careers in the music industry.
Einstein Enrichment Program-Einstein Enrichment Program (EEP) is part of a New York State–funded enrichment program called STEP (Science Technology Entry Program). Its mission is to serve minority and/or economically disadvantaged high school students who have been historically underrepresented in the medical and scientific professions. The program meets two afternoons a week for two 15-week sessions, and an optional 6-week session meeting on Monday through Thursday in the summer. The components of EEP include: fall professional seminars, teen action planning (service learning), academic enrichment including SAT and Regents prep and summer internship placements with stipends.
York College Aviation Program-The JFK Redevelopment Aviation and Aeronautics Academy at York College (JFKR AAA) aims to expose local youth to science, technology, engineering, and math concepts related to aviation, aeronautics, and airport management, as well as to introduce them to leadership and career opportunities in the industry.
