In 9th grade students will be working on the Overgrad curriculum throughout the year, targeting academic, career and social emotional learning.
Students will be exposed to many different clubs and encouraged to get involved. Adding extra curricular activities is a great way to see what you are interested in and it looks great on your resume!
9th Post-Secondary SMART Goal-Students create a SMART goal related to their intended Post-Secondary path in February
Fall semester–students will attend a school wide college fair and will have opportunities to sign up for pre-college program (see below for some opportunities available for freshman)
In the spring, students will meet with their counselor to go over academic progress, courses offered and course selection for the following year.
Talk with the athletes about the National Clearinghouse standards.
Meet with students/families about 529 plans and how to start saving for college.

ACE Mentor Program- program for students interested in architecture, construction or engineering
B-side program at Carnegie Hall- introduces young people to careers in the music industry

Sound Thinking NYC-Sound Thinking NYC is a free program especially designed to open doors for young women and men to explore careers in the music industry.
Einstein Enrichment Program-Einstein Enrichment Program (EEP) is part of a New York State–funded enrichment program called STEP (Science Technology Entry Program). Its mission is to serve minority and/or economically disadvantaged high school students who have been historically underrepresented in the medical and scientific professions. The program meets two afternoons a week for two 15-week sessions, and an optional 6-week session meeting on Monday through Thursday in the summer. The components of EEP include: fall professional seminars, teen action planning (service learning), academic enrichment including SAT and Regents prep and summer internship placements with stipends.
York College Aviation Program-The JFK Redevelopment Aviation and Aeronautics Academy at York College (JFKR AAA) aims to expose local youth to science, technology, engineering, and math concepts related to aviation, aeronautics, and airport management, as well as to introduce them to leadership and career opportunities in the industry.
