Problem Solving
8th grade students will be presented with global issues and will work in groups to design solutions by incorporating different points of view. The students will work collaboratively and will be given choices about how they want to solve or raise awareness about the issue from the perspective of their groups.
World Peace Game
Each 8th grade class will participate in an amazing problem solving activity called "The World Peace Game". It takes a 12-15 days to explain and play the game, so usually one class will play in the Fall semester and the other will play during the Spring semester. The World Peace Game focuses on critical thinking, strategy, collaboration, and communication skills in order to help students resolve and transform the conflicts presented to them. It requires students to compromise, be creative, and consider different perspectives and interests.

STEAM Days
All 8th grade GT students will present at an elementary campus STEAM Day. Students will choose a topic, form groups, and create their presentations during GT class.
Students will need to come to class each week with a charged iPad and a willingness to engage in critical and creative thinking. I will provide most materials needed for activities in class. When working on independent study, students will need to provide materials for their projects.
