Model UN
Why should you join Model UN? Members will tackle problem solving, practice public speaking and debate, learn about global issues, and represent a country at our Model UN conference. The meetings are run by WHS high school officers and meets after school on Thursdays twice a month.
Fall Dates: 9/11, 10/9, 10/23, 11/6, 11/20, 12/11
Future City
Future City is a hands-on cross-curricular educational program that brings STEM to life for students in grades 6-8. Teams of 3 or more students will research, write an essay, design parts of a city, and build a model highlighting their sustainability features. This year's challenge asks students to build a floating city and provide two innovative examples of how the city works and keeps its citizens healthy and safe.
Teams will form in September and students will work outside of school with a mentor to complete the project. We will have meetings at school to check progress and submit deliverables throughout the process, as well. Interested students can email me and attend a meeting to learn more about the requirements. The competition will take place in Houston on January 17, 2026.
Stock Market Game
What would you do if you were given $100,000? Would you spend it all at once? Would you think about putting some of it in the bank? We’d like to teach you how to invest it, so you might grow it. Through The Stock Market Game (SMG), you will gain a fundamental understanding of investing and how you might get your money to work for you.
The Fall session runs from October 6 -December 5. Interested students can email me and attend a meeting to learn more about the game. Teams can play whenever is convenient for them.
