Update as of 6:00 pm, June 10
Crews on the Spring Creek Fire have constructed sawline and hoseline around the northeast flank of the fire, and there was no additional growth to the south. The fire grew to the northwest and is now estimated to be 20 acres. Strong afternoon winds on the Spring Creek Fire created challenges for firefighters, limiting the support of the heavy helicopter and forcing firefighters to disengage because of the risk of falling snags (fallen/downed trees).
Update as of 12:23 pm, June 10
About 95 firefighters are on scene at Spring Creek. They are actively building containment lines but they are having to mitigate the high number of snags (fallen/downed trees) in the area. Fire activity has been minimal but is expected to pick up as the afternoon temps and winds increase. One heavy helicopter is supporting the firefighters on the ground.
Update as of 9:00 am, June 10
The 15-acre Spring Creek Fire showed little activity last night as expected. Firefighters will continue working the fire today, and additional resources are expected. In addition to suppression work, they will accurately map the fire, which will give us a better size and perimeter estimate. Evacuations are still in place.
