Policy Boards
The powers and duties of each Teacher Resource and Computer Training Center Board shall include policy formulation, the employment of staff or consultants, budget control, and expenditure of funds to accomplish the purpose of this section, recommendations for subcontracting to secure technical and other kinds of assistance, and any other appropriate managerial or supervisory activities not otherwise prohibited by State or local law or regulations of the Commissioner.
Teacher Center Directors
The role of the Teacher Center director, though not prescribed by law, is a critical one that is continually emerging as Centers enter new phases. The Center director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Center, as defined by the Policy Board. Although there are some parallels with other organizations, roles of directors of Teacher Resource and Computer Training Centers are sufficiently unique to require some direction.
Roles and Responsibilities of Policy Board Members and Directors
It is important to remember that all Centers have their own unique beginnings and characteristics; therefore, not all Centers operate in exactly the same fashion. These guidelines are intended only to give some direction to the operation of Teacher Resource and Computer Training Centers in New York State and to maintain the spirit of the Teacher Center legislation while safeguarding the uniqueness of all Teacher Centers.
