Action in PYP : Making Seed Bombs using Waste Paper
Seed bombs turned into the experience of a lifetime for the grade 2 learners. They learned about the process of recycling and the use of seeds by creating a product to save and nurture the environment.
They were conserving the environment around them, and they also developed their understanding by contributing to nature. They created a paper mâché mixture, which they brought into the class under the guidance of Ms. Shravani (art teacher). They squeezed the mixture, were given the opportunity to mold it into balls, and then let it dry.
They were also given the choice to choose their seeds, such as sunflower seeds, tomato seeds, melon seeds, and watermelon seeds, etc. After that, the learners developed their understanding with the help of their homeroom teachers, who showed them pictures of the final product.
The seed bombs will be sold during the Winter Fest. Therefore, the learners are very excited and showcased their inquiry about the topic. They learned to work with their peers. It is a way to help save and nurture the environment around us.

Plastic drive - Tetra Pack
The grade 2 learners of DYPIS initiated a plastic drive as a service programme .Why you may ask? They realized that plastic cannot be decomposed. Many irresponsible citizens litter plastic everywhere. They decided to do a plastic drive to make sure that humans and animals have a safe and clean environment to live in. As they were diving deeper into ways to prevent people from wasting and misusing plastic. They got in touch with a NGO called Project Mumbai. They recycle all kinds of plastic, such as wrappers ,tetra pack and more.
This NGO project recycles plastic into t-shirts,compass boxes, pens, benches etc. They got engrossed in the project and took up the responsibility of following the 5R's,which are recycle reuse, reduce, refuse, roten. They made posters and went around presenting to classes to create awareness. They encouraged others to become green warriors and save the environment. Our grade 2 learners have collected the plastic which will be recycled and converted into a useful product. This was a stunning initiative taken by our brilliant learners of grade 2.
