We were delighted to welcome AiR Stuart Mel Wilson to the art department for six months, working on large scale drawings and installation work in the VAC exhibition space. Wilson collaborated with students on a collaborative project where they were able to create their own work to be exhibited alongside his exhibition 'Pleonasm'

The work explored how mythology, fables and tales can be used as a vehicle to explore contemporary life. Wilson's installations, intentionally playful and absurd, transcend two and three dimensions. He questions how we process the bombardment of language, linguistics and semiotics and is interested in how we internalise information as self-centric creatures. Wilson's unique sense of wonder is matched with his sense of humour.

During his residency, Wilson used figurative images and found objects in the gallery space to shapes a new world.
