The SSIS Social-Emotional Learning Assessment is a comprehensive, evidence-based, social-emotional learning system that assessess student competencies in five key areas.
Accurate recognition of one’s emotions and thoughts and their influence on behavior, including accuracy in the assessment of skills and a sense of confidence and optimism.
Effective regulation of one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in different situations, including stress management, impulse control, self-motivation, and goal setting.
Taking the perspective of, and empathizing with, others from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including understanding social and ethical norms for behavior and recognizing various resources and supports that are available.
Establishing and maintaining healthy and rewarding relationships with diverse individuals and groups, including clear communication, active listening, cooperation, resisting peer pressure, conflict negotiation, and seeking/offering help when appropriate.
Making constructive and respectful choices about personal behavior and social interactions that are based on consideration of ethical standards, safety concerns, social norms, consequences, and the well-being of self and others.
A minimum of 80% of students score advanced or competent on the SEL Composite Score.
A minimum average score of 8.0 on each of the SEL Domain scores.
Scores between 8-12 are the ideal score range for each SEL competency.
A score below 8 indicates an area of possible concern.
