“This is a shared vision of what qualities our graduates need to possess to be positive contributors to society and have a good quality of life,” said Durango School District 9-R Superintendent Dr. Karen Cheser. “Portrait of a Graduate adapts the traditional model of education to evolve in an ever-changing world.”
HOSA members show agile thinking through hosting monthly learning labs.
Learning labs are student-led events that connect our CTSO & Pathway with community partners to engage in hands-on learning activities and foster connections with these partners.
Pathway students demonstrate creative problem-solving through the certifications offered, including CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, Narcan, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), and Electrocardiogram Technician (CET).
Students demonstrate a growth mindset by continually working to hone their skills over time, reflecting with peers, and reviewing their performances.
DHS HOSA invited BHS HOSA to an event that included other members of the community, aiming to connect and collaborate on solving problems and advancing causes. Collaboration in photo to the left is with Pediatric Partners of the Southwest (PPSW).
DHS HOSA was visited by Gov. Polis, Rep. McLachlan, and many other key figures. We crafted a clear message for the intended audience and purpose. We conveyed the purpose of the Impact Center and how the Health Science Pathway will utilize it.
WBL/Capstone is designed to consolidate all these individual skills into a well-crafted and refined package that has been developed over the years within this pathway.
The goal is for each student to create a passion project and find a way to make an impact, however large or small. HOSA, DHS, Durango School District, Durango, 4 Corners Region, Colorado, US, or Worldwide.
