Students in Year 9 must complete the compulsory Multicultural Aotearoa course.
They may also choose any of the other semester courses offered in the Social Sciences.
All students will learn about the multicultural nature of New Zealand society and how this impacts the development of a collective New Zealand identity in 2022. Students will get an introduction to the basic social science skills of critical thinking, citizenship and communication and we will study topics such as Citizen Journalism, Cultures, and Migration. This is an important course to increase our social awareness and help develop the tolerance and understanding needed in the world today.
'Banqer High' is a real-world financial education experience for secondary school students. The platform builds financial confidence in young adults by introducing them to, and letting them explore, financial concepts, through an online simulation. Students manage a budget, explore career paths, go flatting with friends, and dabble with investing.
