SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: SENIORS
Below is an outline of how the subject selection process will work. There are certain requirements for each year level when it comes to choosing subjects: there are COMPULSORY subjects in some year levels, as well as OPTIONAL ones and there are differences in the number of subjects students can choose to study.
Please note: the information is set out for students who are moving into Year 11, 12 or 13 in 2024
Requirements for YEAR 11 students
For all Year 11 students:
MUST TAKE 6 subjects (3 compulsory and 3 of choice).
The compulsory subjects are: English, Mathematics and a Science course
They will need to consider the recommended prior learning (if any) noted in the course information
Requirements for YEAR 12 students
For all Year 12 students:
MUST TAKE 6 subjects.
English is strongly recommended for those considering tertiary study.
Consider the recommended prior learning / prerequisites as outlined in the course information.
Students considering university or degree courses at polytechnics must choose subjects which enable them to achieve University Entrance literacy.
Requirements for YEAR 13 students
For all Year 13 students:
MUST TAKE 5 subjects.
There are no compulsory subjects.

Students considering tertiary study must ensure that the course selected meets all of the tertiary entry requirements.
