All students in Year 9 must complete the compulsory English 101 semester course.
Students must also select one of the optional semester courses available
This module will help students to understand exactly what English is about. The focus this semester is all about growing literacy skills that are relevant for success at high school and in everyday life. The course will allow students to:

Discover and study a range of short texts
Complete a novel study
Create a range of different text style
This course will look at how to dissect and examine short texts, poetry and song lyrics. Students will also create their own. It will develop students' ability to create texts that inform and entertain, as well as explore different language techniques that help to paint a picture in the reader’s mind.
This course will allow students to study visual and oral texts. They will write reviews and responses, create oral texts and begin to become a critical listener and viewer. It will allow students to explore how different language techniques can not only inform the audience, but can also manipulate them into feeling and believing different things.
