Students in Year 10 must complete the compulsory Aotearoa - The Making of a Nation course.
They may also choose any of the other semester courses offered in the Social Sciences.
All students will focus on the development of New Zealand's bicultural heritage and how this history has impacted on New Zealand society over time. Important topics that will be covered, include Te Tiriti o Waitangi, The New Zealand Wars, Māori rangatiratanga, colonisation, The Waitangi Tribunal and current issues in Aotearoa in 2022.
Rebels, Raiders and Revolutions is an exciting history course where students explore the most significant events that shaped our world. From the fall of empires to revolutionary discoveries and pivotal conflicts, students will dive into dramatic moments like the Viking raids on Lindisfarne, the 9/11 attacks, and the Russian Revolution. The focus of this course is to develop financial literacy skills and to study how businesses balance profit with social consciousness. Students will be exposed to a variety of local businesses to develop an understanding of entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability in business.
