Students in Year 10 must complete the compulsory Science Alive course.
They may also choose any of the other semester courses offered in Science.
This course covers aspects of Chemistry, Biology and Physics with the aim of preparing students for studying Science at Year 11. Students will do a range of practical experiments and investigations, as well as develop their laboratory skills.
Here, students will discover the wonders of our universe and future travel, and learn to explore outside of our planet’s atmosphere. Importantly, ,they will learn about how the solar system impacts our life here on earth.
In this course, students will discover how the human body works, as well as look at the systems that are involved in working it. Within this, the students will explore the organisation of life from the cellular level right through to the five kingdoms. Students will also consider current scientific developments and controversies, such as CRISPR technology, vaccines, and cloning. This course will provide you with learning opportunities that will support you with the critical thinking skills needed for Year 11 Science.
