This course may involve: researching different stories and their histories and analysing local and international lore, including Maori mythology, Greek mythology and Shakespeare.
What’s in a journey? A lot of the stories we read are about self-discovery. Is it personal, is it physical? This course looks at some of these ideas and may cover: the hero’s journey, travel writing and researching the journey of your ancestors. What’s your journey?
Freedom is a right that few people truly have. Who are the heroes who have fought for our freedom, and who continue to do so? What does our future look like? How much of the past will influence our future? Does history actually repeat?
Sports play a major part in the lives of most New Zealanders. This course is about exploring how sport (including sport stars) are presented to the world. Is the media quick to turn on an athlete or coach if they don’t win? What is the impact of sport in our community?
