In this course, students will explore conventions related to Spatial Design and Architecture. This builds on the Year 9 Architecture Course by developing a stronger link with our local environment. Through a series of projects, they will explore and develop ideas for spatial design outcomes while further improving their visual communication skills. Students will be encouraged to use a range of techniques to develop their ideas, including sketching, computer modelling and model making. Design units will centre around topics such as; architectural history, designing for people and place, sustainability in architecture and innovation.
In this course, students will explore conventions related to Product Design. This course builds on the Year 9 course with a greater emphasis on developing products for the user, and prototyping outcomes. Through a series of projects, they will explore and develop design ideas for product design outcomes while improving their visual communication skills. Students will be encouraged to use a range of techniques to develop their ideas, including sketching, computer modelling and model making (3D printing and laser cutting). Design units will centre around topics such as; solving daily problems, design history, jewellery, fashion design and innovation.
