I orea te tuatara ka patu ki waho - A problem is solved by continuing to find solutions. This whakatauki refers to the need for creative thinking, adaptability and perservarance. In order to solve a problem, you need to have all of these qualities. This course will suit tamariki who have an interest in the Visual Arts. Students who are willing to learn and explore through a variety of media, will look at traditional and contemporary artists and Art styles, as well as our environment. At the same time students will develop a strong understanding of a variety of genre/media, such as drawing, paint, pastel, print, photography, film, animation and sculpture. This is achieved through exploration and creativity.
This Visual Arts course continues to develop skills through exploration and creativity. It looks further into understanding the visual arts in context by investigating the purpose of objects and images from past and present cultures, and identify the contexts in which they were or are made, viewed, and valued.
