Tinikling

Swing/Tinikling Dance Invite 2022

Tinikling is known as the “traditional bamboo dance of the Philippines.” “Tinikling is the word which is in connection with a special native Filipino bird known as tikling. Tinikling; the traditional bamboo dance of Philippines derives its impression from the movement of the tikling birds as they walk between grass stems, run over tree branches, or dodge bamboo traps set by rice farmers.” Dancers imitate the tikling bird's legendary grace and speed by skillfully maneuvering between large bamboo poles. http://www.thelovelyplanet.net/tinikling-traditional-bamboo-dance-of-philippines/

Tinikling Dance is challenging, fun, and a great way to increase cardiovascular endurance. Students will learn the valuable skills of teamwork, communication, and creativity as they work with a group to perform the Tinikling dance steps.
