DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR (July 24, 2023 - June 24, 2024)


Work Permit Checklist


To obtain a work permit: Print the attached Intent to Employ Request Form. After completely filling out your portion, your employer’s portion, and your parent’s portion – bring it to the Student Activities Office at Dublin High School. They will use this request form to create the actual work permit that your employer will need. The turnaround time is typically 48 hours.

DURING THE SUMMER (June 21, 2027 - July 21, 2027  Monday - Thursday)

  1. You must first HAVE a job to receive a work permit. Once you have been hired, have your employer fill out and sign the Intent to Employ Request Form.  

  2. Have your parent/guardian sign the Intent to Employ Request form.

  3. Take your fully completed Intent to Employ Request form to Student Services at the District Office located at 7471 Larkdale Ave. Dublin, CA 94568  Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Important Notes

  • Turnaround time is typically 48 hours. 

  • Student must be present to pick up the work permit because he/she must sign the original form at the District Office. Work Permits will not be allowed to leave the premises without being signed by the student.

  • Student's Picture ID will be required.

  • If you live in Dublin, but are not enrolled in Dublin Unified School District, please be sure to bring a copy of your birth certificate with you when you drop off the work permit application. (faxed and email copies are not accepted)

Entertainment Industry 

A separate work permit application specific only to the entertainment industry is attached (or go to http://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/dlseform277.pdf)  After completion by the parent and school representative (or district office during summer), this application will need to be mailed or presented to any office of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement for issuance of your work permit.  Work permits will be issued within 3 business days and mailed to you.  Please include a pre-addressed, stamped envelope.   The nearest office is located at 1515 Clay Street in Oakland.
