SO WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MUSCULAR STRENGTH & ENDURANCE?

Muscular strength is required to initiate the movement, but it is the muscular endurance that allows the muscle to repeat its actions.

Example: Monkey Bars: You would need the strength to hold yourself up, but the endurance to repeat the movement to travel from one monkey bar to the next.

The ability to exert force based on the demands placed on the muscle.


How strong are the muscles

The ability of the muscles to repeat a movement many times or hold a position without needing to stop to rest.

  • OUTDOOR/INDOOR SPACE

  • BALL OR ROLLED UP SOCKS

  • 1 FAMILY MEMBER

  • CONES OR SOMETHING YOU CAN USE TO MARK DIFFERENT DISTANCES

  • DICE

  • PAPER OR PENCIL


HOW TO PLAY

  1. 1 PARTNER STANDS AT THE 1ST CONE

  2. THROWING PARTNER STANDS ABOUT 10 FEET FROM THE 1ST CONE

  3. THROWER THROWS THE BALL TO THE CATCHER

  4. IF THE BALL IS CAUGHT, THEN THE PERSON WHO CAUGHT IT WILL ROLL THE DICE (1 OR 2: YOU DECIDE)

  5. THROWER AND CATCHER SWITCHES

  6. NOW THE CATCHER IS STANDING AT THE 2ND CONE.

  7. THE BALL MUST BE CAUGHT AT THE CONE (MARKER) BY EITHER YOU OR YOUR PARTNER BEFORE MOVING TO THE NEXT CONE

  8. THE GAME IS OVER ONCE YOU HAVE REACHED 100 OR A NUMBER THAT YOU AND YOUR PARTNER DECIDED ON

YOU AND YOUR PARTNER ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO GET TO 100 POINTS!

CHALLENGES

  1. Wrap the ball in a circular motion around your head. Count every time the ball touches your right hand. (Reverse directions)

  2. Wrap the ball in a circular motion around your waist (do not let the ball touch your body). Count every time the ball touches your right hand. (Reverse directions)

  3. Wrap the ball around your lower legs (do not let it touch the ground). Count every time the ball touches your right hand. (Reverse directions)

  4. Wrap the ball around your head, then around your waist, and then around your knees . Repeat in the reverse direction)

  5. Dribble the ball - spin around then catch the ball with 2 hands.

  6. Dribble the ball-spin around-and then continue dribbling.

  7. Dribble the ball while sitting down - transition to kneeling on both knees - transition to 1 knee. (Can reverse it and go back down to a sitting position?)

  8. Dribble the ball as many times as you can with your eyes closed

  9. Dribble the ball while balancing on 1 foot. (Switch Legs)

  10. Dribble the ball while hopping on 1 foot. (Switch Legs)
