The ASCA National Model provides a clear framework for comprehensive school counseling programs. It outlines the essential components needed to support students’ academic, social-emotional, and college/career development. By following this model, school counselors across the nation work with one vision and one voice, creating unity, consistency, and a shared focus on improving student outcomes and overall achievement.
As part of this model, I provide classroom counseling lessons designed to equip students with essential life skills. These lessons support whole-child development and are aligned with ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors. Topics may include:
Self-awareness and self-management (identifying emotions, coping strategies, goal setting)
Social skills and relationship-building (friendship skills, problem-solving, conflict resolution, empathy)
Academic skills (study habits, organization, time management, test-taking strategies)
College and career awareness (exploring strengths, interests, and future pathways)
Digital citizenship and safety when developmentally appropriate
These lessons are taught in collaboration with teachers to create a consistent and supportive learning environment. My goal is to help every student build the skills they need to thrive in the classroom, on the playground, and beyond.
