What is CPD?

Background

History

Republic Act No. 10912, otherwise known as the “Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Act of 2016”, is an act that requires CPD as the mandatory requirement for the renewal of Professional Identification Cards of all registered and licensed professionals under the regulation of the Professional Regulation Commission.

DSWD through SWIDB as an accredited CPD Service Provider for Social Workers is responsible for receiving and reviewing CPD Application and Completion Reports in compliance with PRC requirements, standards, timelines, and uploading of these application and completion reports at the Continuing Professional Development Accreditation System (CPDAS) once accomplished.

Instructional Design

Instructional Design is one of the CPD Application Requirements. It is the practice of systematically designing, developing, and delivering instructional products and experiences, both digital and physical, in a consistent and reliable fashion toward an efficient, effective, appealing, engaging, and inspiring acquisition of knowledge. The process consists broadly of determining the state and needs of the learner, defining the end goal of instruction, and creating interventions to assist in the transition. The goal of instructional design is to make learning as accessible as possible for the learner. The core of this process is the learning objective. This learning objective is the desired outcome for the learner. The instructional design process ascertains how to best create and lay out activities for the learner to meet the desired learning objective.
