Accelerated Reader

7th grade Developmental Reading students are required to take Two (2) Accelerated Reader tests per marking period: one traditional non-fiction and one “Who Was…” book.  Each AR test score will be entered as a course grade - out of 100 points - in CSIU for that marking period.  (For example; if you earn a 9/10 on the AR test, you will see a 90% reflected on CSIU and if you earn a 15/20 on the AR test, you will see a 75% reflected on CSIU.) AR points do not count toward your grade (but are still elligable for AR awards).

Once the test is taken, the cooresponding Google Form must be completed in order to receive full credit.  Simply taking the AR test is not enough to earn credit.  TEN points will be deducted for not filling out the required form.

You may read a book you own, one from the library, or one you have borrowed or purchased.  Please be sure that you check the AR book finder before you begin reading to ensure that the book you have selected is on the AR list. It is important that you consult AR for tests you may have already taken as you can only take a test one time in your entire Dallas career.

NON-FICTION requirements

There are no limitations on book length or reading level. Books must be factual; this does not include books that are based on reality (ie. historical fiction and/or “I Survived…”).

“WHO WAS…” requirements

Any book from the “Who Was…” series is acceptable.  You may read about people - dead or alive, places, events and things.
