Course availability is based on the number of student requests; courses may be cancelled and alternates added. Consequently, it is very important that students make deliberate and informed choices when completing their Course Plan. CHOOSE ONCE, CHOOSE WISELY.
Grade 9 = 8 courses (4 per semester) PLUS MSIP
Grade 10 = 8 courses (4 per semester) PLUS MSIP
Grade 11 = 8 courses (4 per semester) PLUS MSIP
Grade 12 = 3 or 4 courses per semester (depending on if you can take a spare) PLUS MSIP
Course Plans for GFESS Gr. 9, 10, 11 students will be completed and electronically submitted, through XELLO in February, 2025.
No paper copies & no signatures. The electronic submission of your Course Plan indicated student and parent/guardian approval of the courses requested for next year.
Students might also consider registering for a course via eLearning (click here for the LINK), over the summer (click here for the LINK), or through an educational opportunity beyond the walls of GFESS and DSBN (click here for the LINK).
The type of courses you select is dependent on many factors, including the student’s interests, abilities, and goals.
Students who request a "reach ahead" course in their Gr. 10/11 year are reminded that they will be rescheduled (an alternate course from the Course Plan will be added, OR a course that fits the hole in the TT) if a seat is required for a student who is in that grade cohort.
Please refer to the DSBN Course Type descriptions in the link provided: Course Type Descriptions
When registering for a credit course outside of GFESS, students are reminded to connect with the Guidance department and to provide a copy of the final report card, so that the credit can be added to the student's transcript and Graduation Summary.
