This hands-on course introduces students to the automotive concepts and skills related to transportation technology, which encompasses the maintenance, servicing, and repair of various types of vehicles. Students will learn to use a variety of hand tools and shop equipment as they explore engine design and operation, break systems, and tire and oil service techniques. Students will develop skills by working on small engines and shop vehicles. This course will introduce students to pathways that lead to various careers in automotive and skilled trades.
This course introduces students to the service and maintenance of all kinds of vehicles. Students will develop knowledge and skills related to the construction and operation of vehicle/craft engines, brake service, tire/wheel service, electrical/battery service, and proper auto-body care. Students will develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues, and will explore secondary and postsecondary pathways leading to careers in the transportation industry.
This course enables students to further develop technical knowledge and skills as they study, test, service, and repair all kinds of vehicles, while concentrating on electrical systems, fuel systems and engine management. Students will refine communication and teamwork skills through practical tasks, using a variety of tools and equipment. Students will expand their awareness of environmental and societal issues related to transportation, and their knowledge of apprenticeship and college programs leading to careers in the transportation industry.
