What are the common symptoms to be on lookout for? Muscle aches, headache, fever, sore throat, coughing, loss of sense of taste or smell, runny nose are most common. If you OR anyone you know has any of these symptoms PLEASE do not leave your home, go to school or go to work. CALL your health care provider immediately- They will do the appropriate assessment and /or testing needed and take it from there.
How Can I Prevent Transmission? The best modalities are really common sense: wash your hands very often- regular soap is fine and for 20 seconds. 60% alcohol based hand sanitizers are excellent as well, be sure to let dry on hands and rub all surfaces on hands. Try not to touch your face- eyes, nose and mouth are number one spots for any and all viruses as entry point into the body. Of course we all know physical distance and mask requirements as well. Wearing gloves is only recommended if you are caring for a Covid positive loved one, as wearing them otherwise can give you a false sense of being “clean”and then touching more surfaces than with bare hands. The most important thing is to take good care of yourself- plenty of rest, healthy food and exercise in moderation. Finding activities that help relax you is also important- reading, talking the dog on a walk, playing frisbee with the kids, watching a good movie, yoga, even taking a moment to put our phones down and taking deep breaths helps!
