Some lockdown artwork

I attempted to do an abstract landscape painting. It was based on a large painting in our holiday flat in Port de Soller, Mallorca at the beginning of March - luckily we got home just before the lockdown started.

A talented trustee!

Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Haven, East Sussex

This is a famous view of the coastguard cottages on Seaford Head. We have family living near here so I couldn't resist painting it (from my own photos).

This location has been used for many films and TV series. Recently funding has been obtained to shore up the cliffs to prevent erosionand loss of the cottages after a vigorous debate between conservationists and nature lovers. [SP]

The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross

Also there are many half hour art programmes on BBC iplayer and being shown on BBC4 which can be downloaded.

These were first shown in the 1980's and he built up quite a following for his methods (and he had a nice hairstyle - soon to be emulated in Dronfield!)

Apparently there were over 400 sessions recorded and broadcast in the late 1980's and they are all available on Youtube. You either love or hate his paintings but his presentation style is rather soothing ( or irritating).

I discovered that he used oils, marketed in his own brand. There used to be adverts with his distinctive haircut logo for companies selling his products in the back of art magazines.

His technique doesn't work with acrylics!
