During my senior year, I had the opportunity to join Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. I was introduced to this club by the dean and he recommended me to join. While in this club I decided to take on the role of Treasurer. As the treasurer, I have aided with various events such as our induction and planning events for PI Day. I am not a fan of math so this club is very different for me but I have enjoyed my time being a member. The picture shown is from our induction.
In my sophomore year of high school, I was inducted into the Beta Club. Even though this club is primarily based on academics there are still some pretty fun events, such as the Beta Convention. Every year the Beta Club goes to Savannah for our state-wide Beta Convention. At this convention, we participate in various events to win as many awards as we can. I've attended the Beta Convention for two years, my junior and senior years of high school and the experience was so vibrant each time. At the end of my junior year, I became the club's Treasurer. As Treasurer, I have participated in many activities like Beta induction, and community service events. Along with that I have also hosted meetings.
During my junior year of high school I signed up to be the varsity girls basketball manager. When I first became manager I was very reserved and didn't interact with the team much but as I went into my senior year I found myself coming out of my shell more. I started to connect with the team more during and outside of practice. I also found myself forming a bond with everyone on the team. While being the manager I gained over 85 community service hours. The picture shown is from our senior night.
I have played the violin for six years. I started playing when I was in sixth grade and stayed in it until my junior year of high school. While being in this class I have learned so much that has not only helped me grow as a musician but also helped me grow as a person. I have learned to experiment with things outside of my comfort zone despite how difficult it might seem. While being in Orchestra I was also the Vice President. While being the Vice President I helped plan various activities for the musical department. Being in the Orchestra was a very fun and challenging experience that has shaped me into the person I am today.
Up until the summer going into my senior year I've never had a job. The summer of 2023 I was able to experience having my first job as a summer camp intern. I worked for Horizons Purpose Built Schools Atlanta for the month of June. I was an intern for the Pre-K class. While working at this summer camp I assisted with math and ELA small groups, I also chaperone field trips. One of my biggest accomplishments while working here is earning intern of the week and also helping a camper write his name. The picture shown is from one of our field trips at the Botanical Garden.
During my junior year of high school, I played my first varsity sport which was soccer. I have played sports prior to soccer but none of them were as challenging. While playing soccer I was pushed outside of my comfort zone daily and I was always easily humbled. Usually, sports come quickly to me but this one was taking a little more time. Eventually, I got the hang of it and I scored my first goal. This sport was very fun and I met so many new people while playing.
During my senior year I was recommended to sit on a panel with Dr. Bernice King. I was very anxious about doing it because I didn't know what to expect. The panel went well and was way better than what I expected. During the panel we talked about various issues going on in society now such as, gun violence, mental health and social media. I was able to express how I feel about all of these topics and was able to be heard. The picture shown is after the panel came to an end.
