RE excels in the strategic management of multimillion-dollar government assets, extending our expertise to a diverse clientele encompassing federal, state, and local government agencies, along with commercial clients.
At my work station, I have completed many tasks, including searching listing databases to create a Competitive Market Analysis, building project Proformas, contacting contractors, and reviewing forms (brokerage agreements/purchase and sale agreements).
One of the projects I worked on at my internship was following along with the progress of restoration of a property the firm just finished leasing in order to relist it on the market. Before starting this project I first learned how to use listing services to identify potential properties to purchase and compare them against similar ones in a 1-3 mile radius. For my assignment I contacted and scheduled contractors for the needed renovations as then logged it into my proforma before sending the updated versions out to the staff involved. I also made site visits to ensure progress was going according to plan and list any items that needed any additional addressing. Here are a few pictures of the before and after process.
Reflection
This internship was the first version of job experience I had. I originally chose this internship because it was similar to the work my mom does, but I enjoyed the amount of trust and responsibility I was given. Through many phone conversations and office observations I learned how to better formally communicate with others.
Being my first job experience I learned how to ask many clarifying questions, speak up, and not assume that people could read my mind. This opportunity has helped refine my understanding of a significant field of the past, present, and future of my life. Since I will be studying finance in college, the inside information I gained on real estate will not only help me diversify my future portfolio but also help me better navigate the business environment.
