Pre Calculus
Trigonometry Clinometer Indirect Measurement Project
For the project above, we had to collaboratively find the height of a tall structure in our school. My group picked the toothpick-like pole in the photo on the top right on the document below. Using an app, we found the angle of elevation and measured the distance between us and the pole. We used the trigonometric ratio tan to solve the missing height, 28.43 ft tall.
News in 10 Minutes, Tops!
For this project, my group was instructed to us trigonometric functions to create an equation to estimate the daily high temperature for a city of our choice!
Matrices Stop Motion
We used a given image to create a matrix and transform it by multiplication. We were then instructed to create a stop motion animation with the different figures we plotted.
Water Bottle Rocket Project
Goal
During this project, we constructed and launched a bottle rocket in order to investigate projectile motion. Projectile motion is the motion of an object thrown or projected into the air, subject to only the acceleration of gravity. The object is called a projectile, and its path is called its trajectory.
Calculations
Probability Game
Goal
For this project, we created a game based on probability. The goal was to predict the percentage of probable wins using our classmates as game players.
The rules of our project included rolling dice above a given number to be allowed a chance to hit the dart board. The player with the most points after playing darts won.
