You just got one cell so you need some division (GRAH)
You don’t got no girls need some binary fission
When the cell get too fat it's gone make a decision
Identical copies results from the splitting
I don't like Mitosis and that is a fact
Cuz Why would I want them to copy my raps(LIKE)
Somatic body cells them kids is whack
And you best believe that I'm finna spaz (FAH FAH)
The cell gets real big get split like machete (CHOPCHOP)
DNA spread get around like a hezzie (HEZZIE!)
Mix with proteins getting chromosomes ready (READY)
Centrioles do something cool like a yeti (I admit it) [brrrr]
The opps with the poles move to opposite poles
Membrane is gone, and the chromies they hold (In the middle!)
The spindles they always gone do what they told
I say “split they wigs” then ‘Lo and behold! (We rip em apart)
The nucleus doubles, they upping the score (GRAHHH)
Membrane found not to be missing no more
Centrioles go with they spindles in tow (its a girl)
Chromatins come when the chromies unfold (now we got DAUGHTER CELLS)
(Bridge)
In the prophase the chromosomes condense
Metaphase chromosomes line up in the middle with the help of the spindle fibers doesn't that make sense?
Anaphase chromosomes then split apart with the help of the spindle fibers and the cell elongates into an egg shape to protect your eggs you need a fence
Telophase two new nuclei form with same number of chromosomes, nuclear membrane reappears, centrioles and spindles disappear, and chromosomes unfold into chromatin,
then repeat and repeat without the rinse
Before the opps stop what we got is the interphase
Inside the cell cycle this is the center stage
G1/S/G2, take notes, turn the page
said this already but let me reiterate
Cell GROWS BIG, Dna spread [hezzie]
Synthesis, DNA replication (SISTER CHROMATIDS)
Cell GROWS BIGGER, just like your head (LIKE)
It makes the organelles needed for the multiplication
DNA n Protein get scrunched (prophase!)
Nuclear Envelope boutta get crunched (break it down)
Spindles move chromies to metaphase plate then
Attach to their centromere, ready to break them
Finally we going back to the end
Addressing the affair of your cytoplasm
Cleave it in half call that cytokinesis (SHING)
Burning this mic like it's pyrokinesis (GRAH GRAH)
Lemme chillat cuz the opps really relevant
Fixing your wounds and they help with development
Keeping it going cuz I'm in my element
Embark on a voyage to make you intelligent
Left unchecked, divide without order
Creatures subjected to terrible horrors (AHHHHHHH)
This project was somewhat similar to my chemical reactions rap project. I had to develop a creative way to talk about a scientific process. However, I put a spin on the previous style. I wanted to write a diss track (disrespectful track) on the mitosis process. A skill I learned during this project was exploring my creative liberties in an academic space. In the future, I can take advantage of the power of exploring these liberties by integrating innovative approaches into research projects, developing long-lasting collaborations, and challenging conventional thinking in the academic setting. By embracing this freedom, I will expand my intellectual horizons and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries in my field of study. This is the same as my chemical reactions explanation because I learned the same thing for both projects; this one just expanded on my prior knowledge.
