(May 6th - May 10th)
Deadline Wednesday May 8th - 11:25
This project is to show appreciation for all the teachers that prioritize us and our learning throughout the entire school year. We have until May 8th to design and create a unique and well thought out gift for our teacher during the week of teacher appreciation.
Pencil/Pen Holder
A lot of my teachers have dilpidated pen holders that havent been replaced since the beginning of the year
Desk Name
Also recommended by Ms. Ruffin, very useful for the beginning of the year allowing students to familiarize themselves with the teacher
I have come to the conclusion that I will combine the Pencil/Pen Holder with the Desk Name. This will mix the creativity as well as the functionailty of the gift.
Create a functional device to hold a phone out of wood using power tools like the bandsaw and a nail gun. The stand must show the front of your screen.
In terms of my research these are some of the designs that I think fit the design I had in mind.
I am working with Jamauri who is handling the Nail Gun, Regie who is the site leader, and Jack who is handling the bandsaw.
Never point the Nail Gun at other people never nail the wood while it is over the edge.
Do not use wood too big or small for he bandsaw. Keep hands and fingers out from under the saw.
Orbital sander is for smoothing wooden and rough surfaces. Safety rules never touch a moving sander with your bare hands don't place the sander on the ground don't operate it without safety glasses
Wood putty is a tool used to fill the cracks or holes of wooden projects.

2A Ms. Ruffins Foundations of Engineering
The biggest challenge I faced while doing this project was having to change where I was going to make my flower. Originally I intended on making it in onscape but I had to change to inkscape and learn how to use that. I chose my flower because it was the prettiest one out of the four I chose. It symbolizes Strength, Resilience, and Rebirth Talk about the connection of craftsmanship, nature and art This project connects craftsmanship by our recreation, we are using engineering concepts to create an artistic perspective on nature. This relates to SITNP because the concept of it is growth and that is what we are recreating. Our material was plywood. Finally I used a laser cutter to complete this project.
