Step Up

Step Up is a mentoring nonprofit that provides a structure and curriculum for girls to achieve their desired future. In Step Up I was able to create a strong bond and sisterhood with girls at my school. As a Teen Ambassador,  I was involved in special leadership training with Step Up staff and my fellow, Ms. Ricks, to be able to befriend girls across the country. These travels were very enriching and my classmates and I were able to participate in different aspects of the culture of the states we traveled to. We were able to travel to Nashville, New York, and Chicago. Step Up put me into leadership roles as I was able to participate in fundraising events, collaborate with girls my age, and network with women from different walks of life.

Robotics

My sophomore year I was the robotics club co-president. Our team worked on a robot for the BETA convention. The prompt for convention was Sort, Move, Stack. Our team came up with a design mimicking a baggage claim area at an airport. We assembled a predesigned robot and made prop suitcases out of wooden blocks to go along with the mock conveyor belt made out of foam.
