My name is Laila Shannon. I am from Atlanta, Georgia and I've been going to Drew Charter School for most of my academic career. I have found passion in engineering and Drew has taught me how to become a well-rounded scholar through it's interdisciplinary curriculum.
My experience at Drew has been much more than my letter grades. I have been privileged enough to attend a school where creativity is encouraged and the opportunities are endless. I have been able to participate in a plethora of extracurriculars including BETA Club, Robotics Club, Step Up, and more.
I have also been given the chance to foster a community and family with not only students but also staff and admin who continuously support me in my academic journey.
This portfolio is a way to highlight my work and achievements in my high school life.
I am still exploring what I want my future to look like. I'm currently committed to Vanderbilt University as an Environmental Engineering major. It is my goal to be a part of work that promotes sustainable practices, building a better relationship between people and the planet.
At Vanderbilt, I also plan on double majoring in Philosophy, building upon my interdisciplinary study background that started at Drew. I am continuously exploring possible paths for my future career, and I acknowledge that there is room for pivoting.
