Kristian Budd Alston 2021 9th Grade Learning Journal

“As a 9th grade student at Drew Charter, we have been using the “Drew Design Process” in a recent project. First, we worked on the brief where we understood and defined the problem. The problem we are trying to solve is….”What heroes does the world need to reach the UN Sustainable Development goals?” or “What heroes does the world need?” Next we completed research. During the research phase, we learned about epic heroes, the UN goals, elements, and film making. Next we worked to developing our idea by creating a story board and writing an origin story. The next step was to create a prototype which involved creating a shot list for our video. Next we tested the prototype by filming, editing, and reviewing the scenes. Throughout the process we evaluated and modified our project by reviewing, discussing, and editing our videos.”

Idea development

In geometry, I'm working on designing a piece of stain glass. in geometry, we're learning about the properties of a parallelogram, so my stain glass design includes different types of parallelograms such as rectangles, squares, and a rhombus. For my stain glass design I’m creating a mix of different shapes that we've learned about in geometry.
