Dyes are called fiber-reactive, meaning that a chemical reaction takes place between the dye molecules and the fabric molecules. Fiber reactive dyes attach permanently to cellulose fibers using a covalent bond. When the dye bonds with the cotton, it becomes a part of the fabric.
In our Chemistry Art class, we researched a molecule then made a 3D model of if using TinkerCAD, a 3D CAD program that engineers use. I chose to research and diagram the molecule methanol or CH3OH. On procreate, I used the molecular diagram of methanol as constellations and made the background a galaxy. I used different values and varieties of color to make the background and added a white border around the molecules for contrast. Many digital art professions use Procreate, such as graphic illustrators/designers, freelance artists, and associate designers.
