The Immersive Experience:
In this project, we designed an immersive experience to raise awareness about water injustice. We were given nine creative options to choose from in order to demonstrate this issue, including creating a film, three original art pieces, water-inspired music tracks, a 3D design, social media posts, a costume, a game, set design, a robot, or a website. I chose to create three original art pieces. My designs featured colorful dragonflies, trees, and frogs, symbolizing the connection between water, wildlife, and the environment. I used cardboard and paper to construct my artwork, allowing me to transform simple materials into meaningful visual statements.
Completing this project helped me develop a deeper understanding of water environments and the impact water injustice has on ecosystems. In addition to learning about the topic itself, I strengthened several important skills. I improved my writing by explaining the purpose and message behind my artwork, and I practiced organization and time management by planning each piece and meeting deadlines. Collaboration and communication were essential as I shared ideas, received feedback, and discussed concepts with my peers. Most importantly, the project encouraged creative and critical thinking, pushing me to express a serious issue through art. Overall, this experience allowed me to grow both academically and creatively while becoming more aware of environmental justice issues.
