The objective of this project was to select a song that encapsulates the themes of The Hate U Give, focusing specifically on the unjust killing of Khalil Harris due to racial profiling. The chosen song, “The Bigger Picture” by Lil Baby, serves as a contemporary protest anthem that mirrors the systemic racism and police brutality depicted in the film. The project aims to analyze and present the parallels between the song's message and the film's narrative.

I looked into what The Hate U Give is really about, especially the part where Khalil is shot by the police. I also studied the lyrics and meaning of Lil Baby’s song, which was made after the killing of George Floyd. Both the movie and the song show how Black people are treated unfairly and how people protest against it.

The project involved creating a presentation that juxtaposes scenes from The Hate U Give with lyrics from “The Bigger Picture.” This included selecting impactful quotes from both the film and the song, and designing visuals that emphasize the emotional and thematic connections between the two.
