My name is Jade Chivers, and I came to Drew in 7th grade. When I first arrived, I felt a little alienated because most students had already known each other for years. It was intimidating stepping into an environment where friendships were already formed, and I wasn’t sure where I fit in. However, as time passed, I began to find my place. I connected with a group of people who made me feel welcomed, and through basketball, volleyball, and track, I built friendships with classmates I never expected to become close to.
I’m very happy and grateful for my experience because Drew has provided us with so many opportunities to grow both academically and personally. The community around Drew has always been caring and understanding toward me, especially during challenging moments. Teachers, coaches, and peers supported me, encouraged me, and helped guide me when I needed it most. They consistently put me in situations where I could learn, improve, and be successful, and that support has played a big role in shaping who I am today.
In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, watching shows, and having thoughtful discussions about controversial topics with my peers. These conversations allow me to hear different perspectives and expand my thinking. I also have a strong interest in nutrition, health, and beauty, and I enjoy learning about how lifestyle choices can impact overall well-being. In my free time, I often create slideshows focused on skincare, natural remedies, and dietary plans, which allows me to organize what I’ve learned and integrate it into my personal choices.
Despite my many hobbies, my favorite activity is playing sports. I compete on Drew Charter’s varsity volleyball, basketball, and track teams, which have taught me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. In addition to school and athletics, I also spend my weekends working at Le Petit Marché, where I’ve gained valuable experience, developed responsibility, and strengthened my communication skills.
