This video shows the code coming to life. It shows how teamwork and time management can become something that is
So, the project is called "The Hummingbird," and the entire video is essentially a code—a sequence of precise steps and movements that bring a DIY car’s wheels to life. In this video, I code each function so that the wheels spin smoothly, almost like a hummingbird flapping its wings—quick, precise, and full of motion. The project is about blending creativity and technical skill, showing how code can transform a simple idea—like wheels turning—into a dynamic, elegant design. Each turn of the wheel mirrors a line of code—small, intentional, and powerful—bringing the hummingbird to life in a simple yet mesmerizing motion.
This entire Digital Technology class has really come full circle for me. When I was just 9 years old, I joined a coding class called Black Girls Code, and that was where my love for technology was sparked. Now, in this Digital Technology class, I can see how far I’ve come. The project I’m presenting today, along with the video to the right—where I’m doing a live presentation with my partner on a project we coded—really captures that growth. I feel like this class is a big part of my journey—from a curious 9-year-old discovering coding to now, using it to create apps, games, and digital stories. It’s not just about technology—it’s about how it’s given me a voice, a platform, and a way to connect my passions to the world.
The app I created is called Sundiata, and it’s a dynamic, interactive history app I built in 9th grade to make the story of Sundiata Keita come alive. It’s designed like a fun facts game, where users can explore the life of Sundiata, the legendary founder of the Mali Empire. Through quiz questions, short stories, and daily trivia, users engage with key historical moments, figures, and cultural insights. I wanted to bring history to life by making it approachable, bite-sized, and really engaging, especially for students who might not think history is that exciting. It’s a personal project that showed me how technology can make learning both fun and memorable.
