Today we learned we are going to make Bandsaw Boxes as our first project.

The purpose of this project is to learn how to use the tools safely.

These are the skills we are expected to have at the end of this project.

Practice Puzzle 1 & 2

This is the first time my group used the Bandsaw for practice and we cut the puzzle 1 pieces.

This is the second time my group used the Bandsaw for practice and we cut pattern 2.

Bandsaw and Planersaw Do's and Don'ts

Do's

Wear eye protection
Lower exposer of the blade
Get permission from the teacher

Don'ts

Distract people using the machine
Horseplay
Leave the machine on

Planer Saw Do's & Don'ts

Do's

Wear safety glasses and ear protection
Only use wood
Adjust the height of the blade

Don'ts

Start without the teacher
Leave the machine on
Keep hand close to blade

Today we learned that we are going to design a geometric motion lamp.

Cardbard/Tape Prototype

My geo lamp was inspired by a sword I saw in a show. It had an intricate design where the handle and blade met. The process that it took for me to get here started with the idea and finding the measurements I would have for it. After I found the measurements I put them on Inkscape and used a laser cutter to cut out cardboard on glow forge. I then assembled the cardboard together with tape to create my design. I left the back open and installed my LED lights. With the programmed code I made in python. The lights worked and I closed the back off with the wire coming out of a small hole in the handle.
