In this unit we focused on transformations, and applied what we learned to a 3 level video game. Once the game was complete, we turned it into an animation for easy viewing. The object of my game is to avoid all obstacles (camels and pyramids), in order to not pop the balloon and make it to the finish. Throughout the game rotations, reflections, translations, and dilations were used to maneuver the balloon. It is very important to know the difference between each transformation. Translations move a shape units to the right, left, up, or down. Reflections are when a shape is flipped over either the y-axis or x-axis. Rotations are when a shape turns either clockwise or counter clockwise. Finally, dilations are when a shape decreases or increases in size. Translations, rotations, and reflections all keep the shape congruent, while dilations only keep the shape similar.

In Geometry I am working on designing a piece of stained glass. We’re currently learning about the properties of parallelograms, so my stained glass design will include different types of parallelograms such as rectangles, squares, and rhombus. For my stained glass design I am creating a sun and moon picture that features various cool and warm color tones. The border of the image will consist of rectangles and squares, while the inside will be made up of rhombus, triangles, and circles. The moon will be a circle, while the sun is made up of triangles. As for the rhombus, they will be seen surrounding the sun and moon to create an eye-catching background.

In this project, we took apart a cookie and used it's measurements to find sector areas and arc lengths. The cookie was cut into four uneven pieces. By finding the area of all sectors and the length of all arcs, we were able to find the area and circumference of the whole circle. To find the area we just added all of the sector areas, and we added all of the arc lengths to find the circumference. We also learned the formulas to find arc length and sector area.
