In this unit we focused on transformations, and applied what we learned to a 3 level video game. Once the game was complete, we turned it into an animation for easy viewing. The object of my game is to avoid all obstacles (camels and pyramids), in order to not pop the balloon and make it to the finish. Throughout the game rotations, reflections, translations, and dilations were used to maneuver the balloon. It is very important to know the difference between each transformation. Translations move a shape units to the right, left, up, or down. Reflections are when a shape is flipped over either the y-axis or x-axis. Rotations are when a shape turns either clockwise or counter clockwise. Finally, dilations are when a shape decreases or increases in size. Translations, rotations, and reflections all keep the shape congruent, while dilations only keep the shape similar.
While doing this project I learned how to safely use numerous tools and methods. The tools consisted of a table saw, CNC router, planner saw, miter saw, biscuit jointer, clamps, and an orbital sander. Along with learning how to properly use these tools, I learned methods for applying wood glue, wood putty, and wood stain. Now I am able to efficiently, correctly, and safely use many engineering tools to create something. I applied all of those methods and used all of the tools mentioned when creating my box.
