Guerica is a modern reinterpretation of Picasso’s iconic anti-war painting Guernica, reimagined to expose the ongoing struggle of economic inequality, specifically the wage gap. Drawing inspiration from the chaotic and emotional energy of Picasso’s work, this piece transforms that anguish into a visual protest against unfair labor compensation based on gender, race, and class. In this project, abstract figures represent the silenced voices of underpaid workers especially women communities. Stark contrasts, fragmented forms, and symbolic elements echo the broken promises of equal pay. Just as Guernica served as a cry against violence and injustice, Guerica becomes a powerful statement against the systemic devaluation of certain lives and labor in today’s workforce.
